There are a few warning signs to look for, but a sure fire way to tell if you’re vehicle is ready for new tires is the 4/32nd rule (or the Quarter Rule). By placing a quarter into several tread grooves across the tire. If part of Washington's head is always covered by the tread, you have more than 4/32" of tread depth remaining, meaning your tires starting to wear down and it might be time to start looking for new tires. In the state of Pennsylvania, tires are within legal wear limits if they have 2/32” of tread remaining. However, as a tire wears it's important to understand that tire's inability to perform properly in rain and snow.
